Singing in the cold!

Kew Sparkle

01 December 2017

On Friday, 1st December, many of our children and parents took part in Kew Sparkle, the annual Christmas market in Kew Village. We began with a sing-along rehearsal in the hall, which was followed by mince pies and mulled wine all of which served to get us into the spirit. We sang a selection of Christmas songs with great gusto and lots of fun! It was a wonderful way to begin the season and share some of the fun that is Kew Green with the wider community. There were several other local school choirs in attendance. Personally, I think we knocked spots off them! Mr Esthorninho

Chamber Choir in Kew Gardens

27 November 2017

On Monday, 27th November, the Chamber Choir went to Kew Gardens to sing at the Orangery Restaurant. When we got there we met Mr Deverell, the Director of Kew Gardens and Zac Goldsmith, the MP for Richmond. We performed many traditional Christmas carols like ‘Once in Royal David’s City’ and ‘Ding! Dong! Merrily on High’. After we finished singing we had a nice lunch provided by the Orangery. Everyone enjoyed the singing and we all had a great time. Mr Deverell has asked if we would do more singing at Kew Gardens. I know the answer to that! Molly B (Yr 6)

Appreciate your differences!

Odd Socks Day for the Anti Bullying Alliance

13 November 2017

At Kew Green we embrace our differences and recognise everyone as unique and special. We took part in ‘Odd Socks Day’ on Monday, 13th November, which was a fantastic day to appreciate how differences between us can be fun and exciting. There were a variety of socks on show and it was a fun way to show off our personalities. I wore clashing bunny socks and I loved how the teachers took part too! I think this day showed us an important message about how we do not tolerate bullying and we love being proud of our own unique qualities. Small steps can definitely make a big difference! Remembrance Day

10 November 2017

On Friday, 10th November, we gathered in the playground to mark the 2 minutes silence of Remembrance Day which was to be the following day on Saturday. As we stood silently, the red card poppies hanging from the school, adorned with poetry and thoughts about those who have lost their lives in conflicts present and past, fluttered in the gentle Autumn breeze. It was poignant and beautiful, sombre yet strangely fulfilling, knowing that we had all stood and thought about those who lost their lives. The last post was played by Dominic on a WW1 bugle.

Making Creativity Count

13 September 2017

My article on creativity in school has recently been published in Attain magazine, the magazine for parents within the Independent Association of Prep Schools. It has been well received and widely agreed by many other Heads as being the right way to educate our children.
