Pupils from Kew Green Prep School made an impressive splash at the recent Richmond Borough Swimming Gala, competing against 18 local schools. Represented by an all-girls team, our swimmers showed outstanding determination and teamwork, achieving a superb set of results across multiple races and relays.
Standout performances included 1st place in the Year 6 Girls Backstroke (Allegra C) and 1st place in the Girls Medley Relay (Allegra C, Gwenan PC and Maya S), alongside strong podium finishes in the butterfly, freestyle and relay events. These excellent results reflect not only technical ability but also the confidence, resilience and collaborative spirit developed through our sports programme.
This fantastic success is a testament to the girls’ continued commitment to our weekly upper school swimming squad sessions, where the pupils practise in the pool before school starts to sharpen their skills. This is provided in addition to the regular curriculum swimming at KGPS.
Swimming plays an important role in promoting physical fitness, stamina and mental wellbeing, while competitive events like this encourage pupils to support one another, build self-belief and embrace healthy competition. We are extremely proud of all our swimmers for representing the school with such enthusiasm and sportsmanship – a fantastic achievement for the whole team.
