Admissions

We are delighted that you are considering joining our vibrant school community. Choosing the right school for your child is an important decision, and we aim to make our admissions process as straightforward, transparent, and supportive as possible.

We are a co-educational London Preparatory School and Nursery for children aged 2 – 11 years old. The main points of entry are the Nursery (2+ and 3+) and Reception (4+). Spaces do become available in other year groups so please do get in touch directly with our Registrar if you are looking for a place from Year 1 upwards.

Our approach ensures that each prospective student and their family has the opportunity to learn about our ethos, curriculum, and facilities, while we gain insight into how we can best nurture your child’s potential.

The admissions process is designed to help us understand your child’s strengths, interests, and aspirations, ensuring that they will thrive in our environment. Whether you’re exploring options for early years or preparatory entry, we are here to guide you every step of the way. Please do not hesitate to pick the phone up and talk to us at any time, our Registrars Michelle Wadsley and Davina Pilkington, will be very happy to answer any questions you may have on 020 8948 5999.

We encourage you to visit our school, meet our dedicated staff, and experience firsthand the warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes Kew Green Preparatory School truly special.

We look forward to partnering with you in shaping an exceptional educational journey for your child.

Register your child for a place

Registration for a Nursery or Reception place is strongly recommended from birth and can be completed by submitting the online registration form. A non-refundable fee of £120 (incl VAT) is required to secure a pupil’s registration, however, this does not guarantee that a place will be offered. Parents will receive an email from the Registrar acknowledging payment of the registration fee.

Online Registration Form

Accept an offer

If an offer has been made then we ask parents to complete the acceptance form and pay the required deposit of £3,000 within 7 days to secure their child’s place along with proof of identification. Half of one term’s fees (at the new academic year fee cost) will be payable in advance on the first day of the preceding Summer Term. Both the deposit and half of one term’s fee are non-refundable on withdrawal of an accepted place before attendance at the school. The deposit will be returned to parents once the child leaves Year 6, subject to all outstanding fees being settled.

We operate a policy of sibling priority and will then offer according to the date of registration. Further places may be offered to children remaining on our waiting list.

Once a place has been confirmed and accepted, all relevant joining information will be sent.

Nursery Entry

Children are invited in for a short taster session inside the Nursery with parents present. Parents will also to meet with the Head of Early Years or the Headteacher for an informal chat. This usually takes place at least a term before joining.

Reception Entry

Reception places are offered 15-18 months prior to entry to our current Nursery children and siblings and then in order of registration. As we are non-selective we do not formally assess candidates before offering a place in Reception. However, we do invite parents to meet with the Head Early Years or the Headteacher for an informal chat.

Places in other year groups

We are proud to be an inclusive and co-educational Prep school. Admission may be into any year group providing a child is capable of managing the demands of the school day, can access and benefit from the educational programme and provision that we offer, and where a space is available. Prior to offering a place, we will contact the child’s previous or current school for reports and references.

Children will be invited to come to spend a Taster Morning and/or afternoon with us. This will enable parents and the School to assess whether the child will thrive within the educational environment provided at Kew Green Preparatory School.

Additional Information

Children can be admitted at any stage throughout the school, providing spaces are available. All admissions are at the discretion of the Headteacher in accordance with the school’s admissions policy, legal requirements and signed copies of the school’s Terms and Conditions and parent contract.

A prospective child may have a taster morning at the school at any time, in agreement and by arrangement with the Headteacher.
