Art

The Art department endeavours to provide an exciting and stimulating environment where pupils feel inspired, eager to learn and empowered to create.

Lessons in Art provide every child at Kew Green Prep with the opportunity to excel creatively through an exciting, diverse, and ever-changing curriculum, taking inspiration from a wide selection of traditional and contemporary artists and creative practitioners.

In our brand-new purpose-built Art and DT Studio, children can explore a broad range of creative activities, with every project and lesson aiming to embody Kew Green’s core values: Curiosity, Creativity, Collaboration and Confidence.

In their weekly Art lessons, pupils are set projects and taught a wide breadth of skills, encouraging curiosity and exploration of ideas, allowing them to gain confidence as independent learners and thinkers. Through guidance and practice, children are encouraged and empowered to continue to develop and refine their skills and the quality of their work, enabling them to produce outcomes they can been truly proud of and celebrate, helping to build resilience and self-esteem.

Art is a truly valued subject at KGPS which is celebrated and championed throughout the school, with the aim that our pupils develop a lifelong appreciation for the visual and creative arts and acquire valuable skills they can apply in their everyday lives.
