Useful information for parents

Useful information that a Kew Green parent needs, all in one place.

This page brings together key practical information for parents at Kew Green Preparatory School. From school uniform and term dates to daily routines and policies, everything you need is easy to find in one place.

Uniform

At Kew Green Preparatory School, our school uniform plays an important role in fostering a strong sense of belonging, pride and identity within our community. Wearing the correct uniform helps pupils feel equal, focused and ready to learn, reinforcing our shared values and high expectations. We ask all families to support this by ensuring that children attend school each day in the correct uniform, worn smartly and with care.

Our official uniform supplier is Billings & Edmonds, whose dedicated Kew Green Prep uniform shop is located at 112 Chiswick High Road, W4 1PU. All required uniform and sports kit items should be purchased through Billings & Edmonds to ensure consistency, quality and correct branding.

To view the full list of required items, please click here and select either ‘Reception to Year 2’ or ‘Years 3 to 6’, as appropriate for your child. This will help ensure that your child has everything they need for both the school day and PE lessons.

We also recognise that children grow quickly, and to support families we hold second-hand uniform sales throughout the year. These provide an opportunity to purchase good-quality, pre-loved uniform items at a reduced cost. Parents will be notified directly by the school when a sale is scheduled.

By working together to maintain high standards of uniform, we help create a positive, purposeful environment in which all pupils can feel confident, comfortable and ready to make the most of every school day.

Sample Lunch Menu

At the heart of a Kew Green Prep education is a love of learning, supported by a healthy body and mind. So healthy meals are important. Ensuring growing children get the right nutritional balance we have onsite kitchen which prepares and cooks all our meals from scratch.

Our dedicated in-house catering team provide freshly prepared healthy meals which are varied, nutritious, well balanced and above all, delicious. School menus rotate on a weekly basis and combine seasonal, fresh ingredients to produce healthy lunches.

Sharon Andrews has been the Gardener Schools Group Catering Manager since it was founded. She has qualifications in Nutrition and manages the catering for all school events ranging from parent/staff BBQ events to Canapé Receptions.

All of our schools have a 5-star Food Standard’s Agency Rating which is the highest possible level.

Drinking water is always available at break and lunch times, and additionally throughout the day with chilled water fountains at various points around the school.

Local Suppliers

We are proud that the majority of our food is sourced locally, including meat, fish, vegetables and dairy products which come from independent, local traders.

Dietary Requirements

Every endeavour is made to ensure that individuals with special dietary requirements are met, just as they would be at home. Wherever possible we try not to change the menus for pupils with special dietary requirements but simply adapt the weekly menu to meet their needs.

Allergies

We are a nut free school. We have a number of children with a range of food allergies and this is one of the main reasons we do not allow pupils to bring in a packed lunch or any snacks from home. Our catering staff are alerted to food allergies at the start of every academic year and advise pupils as to the contents of the meals being provided.

Reporting an absence

If your child is unable to attend school, we ask parents to notify the school office as early as possible on the first day of absence. Please contact the School Secretary with brief details of the reason for your child’s absence so that we can ensure accurate attendance records and appropriate pastoral care.

If your child will be absent for more than one day, or if circumstances change, we would appreciate continued updates. For planned absences, medical appointments or exceptional circumstances, advance notice should be given wherever possible.

Clear communication helps us to support your child effectively and ensures that safeguarding and attendance procedures are followed at all times.

Thank you for your cooperation.
